A PAVILION FOR SAILORS

Since the beginning of the 20th century, Paven’s sailing pavilion has served as a maritime base for all who enjoy sailing, archipelago experiences and stunning seascapes. Built as the premises of the Esbo Segelförening yacht club, or ESF, the pavilion was inaugurated in 1913. In addition to sailing activities, Paven has offered various forms of evening entertainment since the beginning, including revue shows and dancing accompanied by the grand piano.

Paven opened as a restaurant in the late 1930s when Fanny and Algot Uhr, who ran the traditional sailing events and festivities on Wednesdays, began their restaurant operations – which were soon interrupted by World War II. After that, Paven served as a clubhouse and casual festivity venue for almost half a century until the new wave of restaurant business that began in 2005.

Hiiohoi Oy starts as the new restaurateur and event operator of Paven in 2022, producing seaside experiences also in several other unique locations of Helsinki and Espoo, including Ruusuniemi villa, HERRÖ villa and Kallbåda lighthouse.
